Welcome to the Civic Foundation UNC School of Government Scholarship Portal

All applicants need to create an account by selecting the Register button at the top of the page!

Members of Civic Federal Credit Union (Civic) and Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU), who are planning to take courses through the UNC School of Government, are eligible to apply for a scholarship*. Funds can be used to help cover the cost of tuition for conference, classes and seminars offered by the UNC School of Government.

Application Deadlines

The Scholarship Selection Committee reviews applications based on the course start date. Scholarship application deadlines and portal open/close dates are shown below: 

  • March 1 Deadline (courses starting between April 1 and June 30)
    • Application portal opens January 1 and closes March 1
  • June 1 Deadline (courses starting between July 1 and September 30)
    • Application portal opens April 1 and closes June 1
  • July 15 Deadline* (Municipal and County Administration applications only)
    • Application portal  opens on June 1 and closes on July 15
  • September 1 Deadline (courses starting between October 1 and December 31)
    • Application portal opens on July 1 and closes on September 1
  • December 1 Deadline (courses starting between January 1 and March 31)
    • Application portal opens on October 1 and closes on December 1

Important Information

  • Applicant's membership with the credit union will be verified and applicant will be notified if ineligible to apply for the scholarship. Please note, membership with SECU does not qualify and application for a School of Government Scholarship.
  • Applicants are required to show proof of course registration prior to submitting their application. Courses where applicants may be waiting on acceptance (for example: Municipal and County Administration, Public Executive Leadership Academy), a copy of the confirmation email proving an applicant has applied to attend will suffice.
  • Scholarship funds must be used for the original course in which the applicant applied. Funds cannot be held or carried over for future use. If a scholarship recipient is unable to attend their course, the scholarship will be forfeit. 

Civic and LGFCU employees, directors and/or family members, or members of any of the Scholarship Selection Committees, are not eligible for these scholarships.

The Master of Public Administration program is not eligible for funding through this scholarship.
